The OnTarget program and this website are the creation of a lone computer programmer. I have been hunting and shooting since childhood. Obsessions that developed later include, but are not limited to bicycling, reading sci-fi novels, playing pool, and golfing. In late 2006 I joined a local rifle club and shortly thereafter added shooting smallbore silhouette to the list.

The OnTarget program was started after I did some ammunition testing and wanted to analyze the results. It seemed that since I had a scanner and a camera it should be possible to use my computer to accurately measure my targets. I started developing a program to do accomplish that in early 2007. The OnTarget program was first released in early 2008.
