I receive a permission error when I run the OnTarget in Vista/Windows 7.
If your are installing under the program under Program Files
in Vista or Windows 7 you may receive a permission error when
you run the program as a non-administrator user. If this occurs
you will need to give Read/Write/Modify access to the folder.
To change the security settings on the application follow
these steps:
Log on as a user who has administrative credentials,
and then use Windows Explorer to open the application's folder.
Right-click the application's folder, and then click Properties.
On the Security tab, click Edit.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation,
type your password, or click Continue.
Under Group or user names, click your user account.
Under Permissions for Users, click Allow for the following permissions:
Modify
Read & Execute
List Folder Contents
Read
Write
Click OK.
I made a change to my computer and now my OnTarget program will not
run (or shows the security splash screen). My original license key doesn't
work. What should I do?
Programs from OnTarget Software use a security wrapper that looks at several
components inside your computer to generate the registration code. Every time
the OnTarget software is started it checks the status of these components.
If anything has changed the security wrapper will display the splash screen
with a new registration number and may not allow the program to run.
In this case please send an email to us at:
support@ontargetshooting.com.
Please include the new registration code shown on the splash screen, your
original registration code, and a brief explanation of recent changes to
your computer. We will validate your purchase of a software license and
generate new codes to enable your software.
Which operating systems will OnTarget work with?
OnTarget v2.10 has been tested in Windows 2000, XP sp1 and sp2, Vista, and
Windows 7. Contact the webmaster if you are interested in running
OnTarget under Linux. We are currently working to provide an installation
of the original OnTarget that will work in the Mac OS on an Mac computer
with the Intel processor.
Why does OnTarget tell me to get a new version when I try to open a file?
The most common cause of this error is trying to use the File/Open
command to open a graphics file. File/Open should only be used to
open existing .tgx files created using OnTarget. Use File/Open Image
or File/Insert Image From File to open the picture of your target.
When you try to use the File/Open to open an image OnTarget doesn't
recognize the file type so recommends that you get a newer version.
Future versions of OnTarget will do a second check for the supported
graphic file types and import the image file.
My distance and/or bullet hole size is not listed. What should I do?
If your target distance or bullet size are not listed in the drop down,
scroll to the top of the list, select the top item, "(yards)", "(inches)",
"(meters)", or "(cm)" and type in the value. Distance values should be
entered in yards/meters (33, 105.0, 500, etc...) and bullet sizes in inches/cm
(.224, .308, 5.57, etc...). The size and distance will be initialized to the new
value for all new groups until changed.
